Previous Projects

In addition to our major programs such as the first certified Chinese batterer program in Massachusetts, the first Malden Asian Disability Advocacy Program and its parent association, and the Malden Employment Readiness Program serving the local Asian immigrant families, Great Wall Center also initiated and implemented projects that engaged volunteers and stakeholders in Malden to address deep-seated challenges by raising awareness and solutions to local issues we care:

Malden Artists Roundtable: Engaged local artists to address social and economic justice by working with Sand T and her network of artists;

First Malden Justic Fair: Collaborated with MAPAC and the area's leading faith, community, acadamic, legal service entities to address social justice issue concerning Malden's immigrant populations;

Malden Asian Health and Disability Survey 2005: Completed preliminary data collection regarding Asian's disparity issue by collaborating with Healthy Malden and independent researcher, Dr. Tom Chung, Malden Asian Disability Advocacy Coalition;

Volunteer Interpreter Training Project (V.I.P.) to train volunteer interpreters to work with people with disability or a victim of crime with collaborations from Malden Police Department, Cambridge College, Cross Cultural Communication Systems and several state and federal government agencies;

Asian Youth Forum: Raised awareness of youth violence in Asian communities in general by working with Dr. Ed Wang, Director of Multicultural Affairs, Department of Mental Health, and particiaption of CAPAY;

Internship and Fellowship: Provided support and guidance for interns and fellows from the area college and graduate programs including University of Massachusetts in Boston 's Asian American Studies and Institute for Community Inclusion LEND program, Salem State College School of Social Work, Master Degree's program of mental health counseling of the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary
