Great Wall Center aims to continue to support the local vulnerable and marginalized groups in Malden by creating and maintaining a hub of networking, learning and empowerment for Asian as well as its grassroots stakeholders and allies.

According to lessons learned, Asian Americans--about 19% of the entire Malden population has been challenged by a complex system of power, where race, sex, class, sexual orientations, religion, age, ability, immigrant status, and language still matters. Asian Americans are still marginalized in public and private institutions that are charged to serve them as constituents, stakeholders and consumers due to lack of cultural competency and perjudices within their respective organizational cultures. Immigrant individuals and families in need of crticial services are still being underserved or unserved due to language and cultural barriers when they need help here.

To enhance our understanding and capacity to respond to systemic issues, Great Wall Center has revised its mission to focus on community inclusion and service system change relevant to Asian Americans since 2007.

As a result, Great Wall Center will strive to be an anti-racist grassroots organization and will aim to take a meaningful and supporting role in responding to institutional racism, and in examining its impacts on the local diverse community as we move forward.
